Grassroots Spring 2025

WHAT IS THE GRASSROOTS PROGRAM?

Grassroots is the program that caters to the needs of the recreational player. It’s a program where play is most important. It focuses on the need for FREE PLAY, which gives players the opportunity to love the sport of soccer while being safe in their growth and development.

WHO IS GRASSROOTS FOR?

The Grassroots Program is ideal for players born in 2011 – 2021.

VOLUNTEER INVOLVEMENT

Grassroots is run as a volunteer program, so we will be reaching out to those who may be interested in volunteering to coach and be field supervisors.

OUR PHILOSOPHY BEHIND FREE PLAY

The current youth sports landscape has players pushed in to overly structured sessions, with loads of cones and line drills, stifling the individuals attempts to be creative in their thinking, limit their spontaneous problem solving ability, and turning youth sports into a boring organized chore.

“Play in all its forms is the right of every child. Activities that employ and teach safe and inclusive play and sport are tools to improve children’s lives.” – UNICEF

“In child development play is a huge component through the early stages of growth, so much so that is a right of every child to have free play.” United Nations High Commission for Human Rights, General Assembly Resolution, 1989

At Fremont Youth Soccer Club, our program provides the safety and freedom for children to play through the medium of soccer.
