Bio

Holding the UEFA B coaching license since 2019 for both youth and senior players, and with 15 years of experience in youth football in the USA, coaching boys and girls football at various levels. Throughout this time transitioning from the role of Coach, Director of Coaching, and Sporting Director at Fremont Youth Soccer Club.

Responsibilities have included on field active coaching to support player development, and within the Director role in designing and implementing a game model and aligned coaching curriculum appropriate for the development phases in youth football and learning phases of the individual, while in consideration to support effective coaching practices.

Being committed to continued education, I have found invaluable experiences through Academy visits in Europe and South America, and a Masters graduate in MSc Advanced Performance Football Coaching through the University of South Wales, which culminated in completing a research project in coaching behavior's for effective coaching in modern coaching practice.

While holding positions at Fremont YSC away from the field, returning to practical coaching on the grass with the Manchester City Academy, has been a great opportunity, and career experience. I believe coaching to be bigger than the application of soccer actions. A holistic approach to include health, nutrition, psychology, and management will bring out the best in coaches, and will help players to keep reaching to maximize their full potential. Coaches should raise their bar, work to higher standards, and read outside of soccer on leadership, psychology, and child development to enhance the learning environment. Encourage practicing with purpose over quantity, and allowing kids to grow up naturally without the fast tracking of adulthood. Allowing kids to experience childhood and failure will build them for their later lives in a working environment, and will encourage an open mindset to continued learning throughout their lives.

Experience Started coaching youth soccer at the age of 19, for a Varsity Middle School boys team in Almaden CA, then became involved as a coach for a club in Campbell CA. Throughout my early stages of my coaching career, I was also involved with multiple after-school programs and camps. I became involved with Fremont in 2013. With Fremont Youth Soccer Club, I have developed as a coach and a Director of multiple programs, while also learning to manage off the field work, that most coaches simply push to the side, or overlook. In 2019 I travelled to Europe and experienced the day to day operations of some of Europe's biggest youth academies, and gained insight into the club operations at the elite level.
Additional Information I believe that player development should be the main focus in youth soccer. Players who can run at defenders and take them on, makes the game exciting and fun. Players who take risks during training and games are the players who are developing and having the most fun. “Joga Bonito” (Play Beautifully), play with flair and creativity.
